History & Gallery
Rody’s has a rich history. It was founded in Nenagh in 1873 by the MacMahon family from Clare. Later, it was sold to the Bolands family at the start of the 20th century. In 1994, the original furnishings, counter, back fitting, and more were moved to Rathmines. You can still see them there today, along with the old ledgers, snugs, and original pub front.
An Irish pub has been on the site of the upper Rathmines road for over two centuries. Now, it’s family-owned and run by Nenagh man Kieran O’Meara and his son Brian.
You’ll always feel welcome here, in old-world surroundings with a modern twist. Rodys has become a dining destination, offering seasonal Irish food menus made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. It’s a popular spot for both locals and tourists, with a wide selection of artisanal cocktails, craft beers, fine wines, and a vast collection of spirits from around the world.
Upstairs at Rodys is Mick Macs Bar, named after the owners at the turn of the century (Michael McMahon). It’s a function room available for local events, birthday parties, family gatherings, and corporate events.
