History & Gallery
Rody’s has a rich and storied past, full of Irish charm. Originally founded in Nenagh in 1873 by the MacMahon family from Clare, it was later passed to the Bolands at the start of the 20th century. In 1994, the original furnishings—including the counter, back fitting, and pub front—were lovingly moved to Rathmines, where you can still see them today, along with old ledgers and cosy snugs.
An Irish pub has stood on Upper Rathmines Road for over 200 years, and today Rody’s is proudly family-run by Nenagh man Kieran O’Meara and his son Brian.
You’ll always find a warm welcome here, with old-world surroundings and a modern twist. Rody’s has become a go-to dining destination, offering seasonal Irish menus made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients, along with artisanal cocktails, craft beers, fine wines, and an impressive collection of spirits from around the globe.
Upstairs, you’ll find Mick Mac’s Bar—named after former owner Michael McMahon—a cosy function room perfect for birthday parties, family get-togethers, local events, and corporate gatherings.
Come for the history, stay for the hospitality.
