TheScore.ie recently profiled Rody Bolands as part of the 6 Best Pubs in Ireland to watch the 6 Nations
And so it ends here…a decidedly mixed 6 Nations season for Ireland thus far but an opportunity for some divine rejuvenation in Rome on Saturday (16th March with kick-off at 3.30pm) when we play Italy in the Stadio Olimpico.
If you can’t get to Rome, Rodys is the place to be
Italy have really shown themselves to be real tough and indeed skillful opposition at times so this game on their home turf promises to be a real cracker (and not just the dead rubber encounter some might have had it to be).
If you can’t get to Rome, there is only one other place you want to be and that is her in Rody Bolands – the best rugby pub in town and the heartbeat of Rathmines!
This will also be a great warmer-upper to the key 6 Nations clash when Wales take on England for the tournament decider and possible Grand Slam for England (at 5pm immediately after the Ireland game).
And then you can kick loose and party till 3a.m. in Rodys with live music and craic guaranteed to make your St Patrick’s Weekend!
And will it be Brian O’Driscoll’s last hurrah? We hope not but here is a great video tribute to enjoy…
Maybe it could have or should have been different. At the start of the 6 Nations rugby season, one might have dreamed that Ireland v France on Saturday might have been the Championship decider and not potentially a fight to avoid the wooden spoon!
Nevertheless it promises to be a fascinating game with France in particular seeking to avoid an ignominious if not unprecedented fourth loss in a row. A lot of pride is at stake and we Irish do pride well!
Kicking off at 5pm, it is a perfect time to drop down to your favourite rugby pub in Rathmines (one of the best 6 rugby pubs in Ireland according to thescore.ie). And we are expecting a big crowd back from the Aviva for the after-match party with late bar and music till 3a.m.
And just to whet your appetite…remember this?

As we predicted last week, the atmosphere in Rody’s pub in Rathmines was the equal of any rugby stadium! So this Sunday’s 6 Nations home game (in the Aviva against England in case you’ve been on another planet) promises to be another cracking occasion.
The highlight of the Wales game of course was Simon ‘Messi’ Zebo’s delicious flick with his boot in a great try-scoring move which should not belong in any proper game of rugby…and that’s what made it so brilliant!
So for your delectation here it is again…
So if that hasn’t whetted your appetite for Sunday’s game, I don’t know what will. Hopefully this quality of Irish attacking flair will bamboozle the lumbering (albeit powerful) England backs.
If you are lucky enough to have a ticket for the Aviva stadium, fair play to you – the rest of you can watch it in the best rugby pub in town (and that’s official now – it’s not just us who are saying it).
Kick-off is at 3pm and why not get your Sunday brunch here as well to fortify yourself for a great day and night in Rathmine’s best party venue
And if you want to watch another rugby video which will have you er… slathering in excitement don’t forget to check out Declan Kidney’s press conference which he announces the Irish team to play England. It’s 18 minutes long, so try to stay awake or you can just read the Ireland team list after the jump
See you on Sunday!

Just like the Ireland team itself at times, this press conference below takes its sweet time to get going – in fact initially you will just be staring at the backdrop for a good 1.30mins (so helpful hint – start the video at that point).
And joy of joys, you will then be able to watch Declan Kidney (if you can handle the excitement) and newly-minted captain Jamie Heaslip, field vexing questions about the now-totally-minted Jonathan Sexton – as well as dispensing riveting non-information about the forthcoming 6 Nations test against Wales.
And just to put you out of your misery…here’s the info you were looking for;

Best rugby pub the world?
So where are you going to watch it then?
Don’t despair just because your posh deefer mates have tickets for Cardiff.
And don’t listen to their jabber about the Millennium Stadium’s ‘magical atmosphere’ because Rodys in Rathmines can match that anyday – after all we too have a roof and plenty of singing (indeed some of ye even been barred for the latter ).
So get down early this Saturday to the best pub to watch the rugby match in town and let’s hopefully celebrate a much-desired win until the wee hours.
It’s rugger toyme again as Ross O’Carroll Kelly might say and you won’t find a better spot to have a few Heinos and meet, loike, totally cool people in Rody Boland’s of Rathmines.
The kick-off is on Saturday 10 November at 5.30pm and we will be showing the match live. Afterwards there will be live music and the DJ/dancing with late bar till 3a.m.
There is such a feast of sport on this weekend, it’s enough to make you salivate.
What with the rugby and our Super Bowl party, it will be flying in Rody Bolands. But a bird never flew on one wing, as they say, so during every 6 Nations Rugby match (see match times here) we will be doing a special deal whereby you get a pint of Heineken with every delicious main course from our new bistro menu. You could certainly tackle that!
Declan Kidney has just announced the Irish team line-up to face Wales in the Aviva on Sunday.
There are no big surprises, with the main talking point perhaps being the selection of Keith Earls to play in the centre and with Andrew Trimble to fill his slot out on the left wing. Some might argue that it should have been the other way around.
Either way it promises to be a really tense and exciting encounter (a big grudge match after Wales dumping us out of the World Cup).
We are getting all geared up for it in Rody’s so make sure you get down early before the 3p.m. kick-off on Sunday to reserve your seats. Whilst you’re here why not have a super Sunday brunch with a (yet to be announced) weekend bistro special from Chef Bart.
For the committed amongst you, do stay on for the Super Bowl party which will feature live screening and commentary with extended late night opening so you can get to see the whole game!
